JOB SUMMARY:
Performs professional accounting activities requiring knowledge of accounting theory and principles. Analyzes and maintains a complete and accurate general ledger, prepares managerial and financial reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for completing bank reconciliation sheets. Ensures that the general ledger cash balances are reconciled monthly to the bank statement balances. Communicates reconciling items to proper department for resolution.
Answers questions from other departments, locations and divisions regarding various accounting issues and reports, including profit and loss reports. Researches open accounting issues.
Prepares and review reports such as the general ledger report.
Prepares journal entries to record transactions to the general ledger.
Analyzes accounting variances and prepare variance explanation reports.
Analyzes unrecorded assets and liabilities.
Prepares operating budgets for clients and/or business line leaders.
Prepares federal, state and local tax reports.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project. Coordinates the work to be completed but is not responsible for formal supervision of employees.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of 6 months experience as an accountant.
