The Developmental Neurolinguistics Lab at the UT Dallas Callier Center is conducting a study to better understand how children develop and process language and how children with language difficulties (language delay/disorder/impairment) process language differently. We are currently looking for 4-7 year old children with normal language development AND children with language difficulties to participate in the research study.

The study is completely non-invasive and consists of 2 sessions. During the first session we conduct a hearing screening and some language testing. During the second session the child wears a nylon EEG cap while listening to sentences and answering basic questions. EACH participant will receive a reimbursement of a $20 gift card per session ($40 for 2 sessions). We require the presence of a parent or legal guardian to sign a consent form and complete a developmental history. There is nothing painful about the procedure. The biggest risks are messy hair and mild boredom. Each session lasts roughly 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

To qualify the child must be/have:
Ages 4-7
Right handed
English is their only language
Normal Hearing
No diagnosis/history of ADD, ADHD, psychiatric or neurological disorder
No history of brain injury

NONE of the following can be used during the study:
Within 28 days of the study start:
� NO Mega-doses of vitamin A, hormones (excluding those for birth control), spironolactone (aldactone, aldactizide), cyproterone acetate, Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Minocycline, Doxycycline and Clindamycin
� NO medication or therapy known to affect oil production or non-inflammatory acne.
� NO Oral immunosuppressive drugs (Intranasal and/or inhaled corticosteriods will be acceptable throughout the study if at a stable and standard dose.)
Within the past month:
� NO Benzoyl peroxide, Epiduo�(combination of adapalene and benzoyl), alpha-hydroxy, beta hydroxy and/or poly-hydroxy products
� NO Medicated cleansers, wipes, masks, scrubs, gels and creams
Within 3 months of the study start:
NO Accutane

PLEASE READ:

� Subjects under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present at Visit 1 to sign an informed consent. No exceptions will be made.
� Must be willing not to shower, bath, swim or use a hot tub until all study procedures are complete. Subjects must also be willing not to wash their face, apply cosmetics or participate in physical activity that would produce moderate to excessive sweating during the course of the study.
Willing to avoid sun exposure (including tanning beds).
� Between the visits subjects will be allowed to leave the clinic, but instructed to not bathe, shower or wash their face, swim or use a hot tub or sauna until the completion of Visit 4. Subjects will also be instructed not to apply any facial makeup. Any physical or sports activity that result in wiping the face during the course of the study will be prohibited as well.

All on Saturday 12/12/09 ( Approx. 2.5 hours apart )
Visit 1: 12/12/09 9:00 to 11:30pm ( 1.5 hours )

Description of Study
Visit 1: (Subjects need to have washed their faces at least 2 hours prior to their appointment and not applied any products (females: make-up) to their faces prior to their arrival.) Subjects report to the clinic, complete normal paperwork, sign an informed consent. They will be screened for the presence of 2-5 inflammatory (red, raised) inflammatory acne lesions. Subjects who DQ by exam, or because the study has filled will be mailed a $10 DQ check. Qualified subjects will apply the spot treatment product to their target lesions, have photos taken, and complete a questionnaire.

Visits 2 - 4: Subjects return to the clinic for facial examinations, and subjects will complete a questionnaire.
