RockTenn has an opportunity at our Dallas Mill for a Fiber Procurement Manager. The Fiber Procurement Manager is responsible for procuring waste paper for the mill. The Fiber Procurement Manager has the following responsibilities:
Manage pricing, volume, contracts, quality, inventory and warehouse.
Develop comprehensive quality program with mill support to identify specifications, testing and clear procedures.
Buyer continuously monitors all supply locations on cost and quality.
Communication with mill management on anticipated usage by grade.
Issue release numbers in a controlled fashion to maintain control over inventory and flow. Old release numbers should be deleted.
Develop expected deliveries by date and grade report.
Work with production to develop tolerances within each production recipe to optimize cost, quality and improve supply assurance.
Work to buy more material fob sellers dock to gain better control of deliveries and flow while reducing cost. (This will require buyer to manage transportation as well as fiber)
Monitor inventory, flow, usage and mill needs daily.
Rank suppliers by cost and quality and continually optimize supplier base to achieve results.
Routine supplier visits to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities.
Develop new suppliers to improve cost and quality.
Handle quality disposition of any load that is out of specification.
Work with existing suppliers to notify procurement of ship dates and grades prior to shipment. (ex. Dalton Paper)
Visibility of all loads by release number, grade and trailer number in yard or trailer pool.
Insure that production can use the material as intended at time of purchase or as a higher value than purchased (ex. Dont buy as News and use as mix or filler).
5+ years of paper fiber procurement experience in a Mill or Recycle Fiber environment
Bachelors Degree preferred
Brokerage experience a plus
