SUMMARY
Underwrites loans for the Retail and/or Wholesale division and ensures that all policies and procedures are being followed to maintain the underwriting of high quality loans. Provide consistent, professional service to our internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Make sound underwriting decisions utilizing both automated and manual underwriting systems
• Call out denied decisions to both the Community Banker and the Broker
• Review and sign off prior to doc conditions
• Make property decisions by evaluating all information contained in the appraisal
• Order review appraisals when warranted
• Review the preliminary title report to ensure a valid title policy will be issued
• Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts
• Perform other job duties as assigned
• Use both automated and manual underwriting systems to evaluate loans
• Ensure all required communications are handled in a professional manner
• Maintain quality of decision in accordance with Company Quality Standards
• Perform other job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of FHA/VA regulations, FNMA/FHLMC and investor underwriting guidelines.
• Proficient in the use of software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2 year Business degree or 2-3 years equivalent experience.
• Successful completion of in-house training or approved outside training program.
• Good understanding of financial institution products and services.

• None required.
