The role of the Systems Engineer is to install, troubleshoot and maintain computer network devices and systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Installation
- Take ownership of project.
- Work with sales team and manager to determine scope of installation
- Work with project coordinator to know when equipment will arrive at TFE or customer location
- Coordinate installation between customer and TFE
- Coordinate necessary resources with manager, peers, and project coordinator
- Perform installation on-site or remote, whichever project dictates, to TFE standards
- Communicate progress to manager, project coordinator, sales team, and customer
- Attend project update conference calls
- Document configuration and archive any configuration files
- Provide any required close-out documentation to customer.
Troubleshoot
- Take ownership of problem.
- Assess business impact and act accordingly.
-Use first-in/first-out (FIFO) protocol as much as possible.
- Communicate timely with customer and sales team.
- Perform effective troubleshooting.
- Resolve problem and communicate solution to customer.
- Document work on service sheet if outsourcing or hourly project.
- Coordinate parts ordering/return with Technical Services Administrator.
- Install necessary parts.
- Coordinate onsite installations based on geographic location in district to minimize travel time.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with customer and co-workers.
- Ability to drive personal or company-owned vehicle.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain positive and self-motivated attitude.
- Attend scheduling meetings every Friday.
- Attend other meetings and team-building events as necessary.
- Maintain calendar for past work and future scheduled task.
- Excellent organizational, leadership and time management skills.
- Excellent customer relation skills.
- Obtain certifications as requested by manager.
- Maintain certifications and knowledge of products utilizing manufacturers resources.
- Follow industry trends in field of expertise or specialization.
- Assist in controlling TFE expenses.
- Take care of TFE assets.
- Follow procedures as set forth by manager.
- Respond promptly to emails.
- Look for ways to make TFE better.
