My router has the software Linksys released on Nov 30'th - how old do you think the other ones are here on craigslist? 1yr to 3yrs old - you're probably right.
There's a reason they're selling here, because they can sell their junk. Mine's in great condition and is the nicest, top-of-the-line wireless network in the industry right now according to CNet and PC Magazine. I'm moving to New York and just don't need it. Unlike the other guys, there's nothing "outdated" or "broken" about it.
