The role of the Technical Sales Engineer is to assist the sales team in all matters technical to be successful while ensuring Technical Services has the information for a successful implementation. He/she is responsible for the combined performance of the team and for ensuring that every sales person reaches their target. Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities by Function
RFP/Bid Management
Manage all technical aspects of bids and walkthroughs.
Read and understand bids.
Develop caveats and exceptions.
Develop technical portion of executive summaries.
Develop and provide pre-bid technical drawings.
Provide bills of materials.
Ensure bid specifications are being met during installation.
Technical Sales Assistance
Maintain product knowledge across entire technical offerings by TFE.
Maintain product knowledge of competing products and companies.
Be a resource for inside and outside sales technical questions.
Ability to white board solutions with customer.
Comfortable presenting to C-Level positions.
Ability to translate technical terms to lay persons.
Investigate products/solutions to ensure proper fit with customer.
Recommend new products/services to Directors.
Meet with customers in conjunction with Account Manager to understand business needs and pair technology solutions with needs.
Assisting sales and customers with the proper solutions to solve problems and meet objectives.
Assist customers with long term technology planning.
Obtain and maintain certifications as directed by Sales Director and Technical Services Director.
Train sales teams in products and services that TFE offers.
Technology Quality/Assurance
Work with manufacturers to ensure TFE sales and technical teams maintain latest information on products, services, and programs.
Ensure Technical Services members clearly understand bid specifications and implementation details.
Provide network diagrams and rack elevations to Technical Services prior to implementation.
Provide internal kick-off meeting with Sales and Technical Services to hand-off awarded projects.
Provide customer kick-off meeting with Sales, Technical Services, and the customer to hand-off awarded projects.
Organizational Effectiveness
Self-motivated and self-starter.
Maintain organization of all aspects required of this position.
Be able to give an update on all upcoming projects and bids to management.
Clearly communicate necessary staffing and training required for upcoming projects.
Provide Directors with updates on efforts and challenges.
Provide Sales Director with information pertaining to sales teams.
Regular meetings with Sales Director and team to maintain open communications.
Organizational Leadership
Contribute to long-term TFE strategies by organizing and communicating successful projects.
Look for opportunity to suggest complimentary products and services to sales team.
Create a synergistic and collaborative environment with other design engineers and all members of Technical Services.
Qualifications
CCNA and CCDA or better.
At least 3 years experience in Technology design or implementations.
Strong background and work experience in networking principles.
Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Excellent presentation skills.
Outgoing personality and demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated leadership and vision in technology.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
Excels at operating in a fast paced environment.
Open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to getting the job done.
