We’re looking for a part-time writer and editor who is familiar with all the kid-friendly fun North Texas has to offer. This person will be responsible for maintaining three comprehensive online calendars (finding family-friendly events and entering them into the online calendar system; maintaining contacts with local museums, zoos, theaters and other attractions; requesting photos to go with events; and staying on top of changes to events, prices, etc.) and editing a version of the online calendar for print each month. This person must have excellent writing and editing skills (including knowledge of AP style, grammar, etc.); a degree and/or working experience in journalism, English or a similar field; organizational abilities; and attention to detail. This person must be familiar with family-oriented events and attractions across the Dallas, Fort Worth and Lewisville-Denton areas. Preferably, this person will know what it’s like to have a long weekend stretching out in front of him or her with easily bored children—and will know exactly where to turn to find fun activities to keep the kids entertained!
