Anyone who has been around the music scene knows that the clubs are here to make money. Around here, most people do not just go to clubs to hang out, they go there there to see a particular band. This means that clubs are only going to book bands that they know are going to bring a lot of people to their club. If your band can not get people to come out to a club to see you, then you will be stuck in new band night hell. It sucks, but that's the way it is. Advice, get off your ass and promote your band. Do not rely on the clubs to do it for you because they wont. Plaster flyers everywhere, email everyone and their dog and cat. Call everyone you know and drag their ass down to the club. Do everything that you can and then some to get people out to see your band. If you bust your ass, and for some reason you still do not get a lot of people out, then at the very least the club will know how hard you tried. Believe me, the clubs know who really works hard and wants those good gigs. Bottom line, this is a business, treat it like one.

So lets get this right. A possible chance for a paying gig, but to get that you have to pay for free first, but bring in at least 30 people paying $5 each. I guess that goes to show what kind of deal bands get. I understand playing for free. I also understand bringing in a crowd when getting paid. So I wonder where the $150 + goes? This sounds like this is a pure shafting of decent musicians.

influences: PANTERA, slayer, sepultura, fear factory, all kinds of thrash, and death metal and old school metal. im influenced by alot of other kinds of music as well, im far from being a one dimensional music fan. but metal what im interested in being involved in. metal is the ultimate form of music, i dont want to be associated with anything less.

As I stated in my previous ad I am looking for new bands to book. I work mainly for The Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth but I also book for three other bars that host live bands. I'm constantly looking for new bands. There is no such thing as too many contacts in this industry. The Ridglea is obviously a difficult venue to book for. Since we are the second largest in Fort Worth, second to Billy Bob's, we can't take chances on shows with no draw. We have two stages. Our main stage is downstairs and our main room holds 1200 people. We also have a lounge on the second floor. We use it as an acoustic lounge and for softer music and acoustic shows.

Our main stage has hosted some of the biggest names to play in Fort Worth. Not to name drop but we have hosted Willie Nelson, 30 Second to Mars, Mac 10, Tone Loc, Two Live Crew, Creed, Warrant, Ministry, Stryper, Ziggy, Damian, and Stephen Marley, and 3 6 Mafia just to scratch the surface. After 10 years we have began to branch out and are hosting events such as pro wrestling once a month.

The "acoustic lounge" is our second floor. I use it as my personal playground. The lounge has a capacity of close to 100 but is more comfortable with 50-80 people. On Thursday night I host an open mic night that draws some amazing talent seeking their 15 minutes of fame. While the main stage tends to be reserved for heavier shows I like the lounge for calmer shows with a variety of music. I want to put Jazz, Hip Hop, R & B, Folk, Progressive, Reggae, and even Electronic Music in the Lounge. I am open to just about any show idea that makes sense.

The official way to get booked at The Ridglea is to send an email to our owner. However, She gets several hundred emails a week and this is not very effective. That's where I come in. Every Wednesday night I host a New Band Night. It's on our main stage. It has been an amazing way to find new talent. It's a non paying gig that serves as an audition and a show. It's treated like any other night. We have a full staff and the bar is open. The cover is reduced to $5. Each band gets a 30 minute set to show us what they look like in front of a live audience. Your goal is to get at least 30 people to come show their support. We usually have a crowd of 75-200 so it's a good chance to get some exposure and put The Ridglea on your resume. I am looking to book 24 bands a month. I only want bands that think they can make the cut. Each date is non genre specific and is open to all types of music. Since I book for other venues I am interested in a big variety. I am currently trying to fill my January Calender.

I will be honest. I am NOT in this for the love of music. I'm a business minded booking agent. If your music sounds great but not one person will come watch you play then I can't really use you. I get several great bands a month from my New Band Night. Some bands make the cut and some don't. On a weekly basis our owner calls me and asks for bands to open national shows. I give her names of bands that did great on Wed nights. I don't like to take risks with bands that I have never seen play when they are about to open for a crowd of over 1000 people.

If you are available to play a Wednesday night in January I'd love to see what your act brings to the table. I am booking now for Jan 13th. Keep in mind that I do book for other venues and if I like a band I have a habit of flooding their schedules with paying gigs. In 2010 I plan on making big things happen in the local music scene. More than just a side project, this is a band that I want to take seriously. The sound I'm looking for is somewhere between Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle and the Beat Farmers. I'm also a big fan of Shaver, Hank Williams and John Prine and their influences can be heard in my songs.

I play frequently as a solo artist and am not in a hurry to form a band, but I'm always on the lookout for good pickers and am even open to doing two man accoustic gigs. Hi there,

I had a fun blues power trio in college and am at a point where I have collected enough songs to get another going. We got radio play, magazine articles, and even visited with Epic back in the day, but I was focused on using my degree at the time. Now have a little more free time (still not enough) and would like to take it to the next level. Style: SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Dire Straits, ZZ Top...

Keyboard Player - available for progressive Celtic pop/rock (South Fort Worth)

I am a keyboard player / singer / song writer interested in joining a band doing progressive Celtic rock / Celtic pop music. If you have an established band playing this genre of music, and are in need of a keyboard player, I would like to hear from you. I have been a performing musician most of my life and have played with bands for small and large venues. I have started and managed my own bands but have no desire to start a band or be a band leader at this time . . . I simply want to play. I enjoy and have played several genres of music, one of them being of course progressive Celtic music. This is my first attempt to cast a net to see if there might be a need for a keyboard player, of this genre, in the DFW area. I would be interested in joining an existing established band or possibly joining a new band with good possibilities for success. I don�t have ego/attitude issues and have no desire to be a part of anything where this exists.

Regarding my keyboard ability, I have many years of experience in digital keyboard work such as being able to do respectable simulations of strings, acoustic guitar, fiddle, Uilleann pipes, Celtic flute, and other instrument simulations on keyboard. I have a MySpace that has several of my original instrumental songs. On these recordings, except for the drums/percussion, I played all instrument parts on keyboard which will give you an example of the instrument simulations I can provide should there be a need. Of course the real instrument is always better than a digital keyboard simulation if it is available.

Some of my favorite progressive Celtic bands are Wolfstone, Iona, Dave Bainbridge, The Corrs, and Karnataka, which can be found on Itunes, MySpace, and YouTube.

I am a trained musician, playing piano since I was 8, and I am looking to take on any and all students of any age. I don't have a rate, but it will be around $25 dollars per lesson, plus gas (I have a 35mpg car, so it won't be a problem unless I really have to drive out somewhere). I am also very flexible with payment and will be reasonable, but I do expect payment at the end of every lesson.
Like I said, I have been playing piano since age 8, and I have been playing saxophone nearly as long, and I picked up guitar and bass on my own but am skilled and know proper technique to teach to someone else. I also know music theory and will incorporate that into the lessons if needed or desired. As I said, I will take any student of any age so long as they can dedicate themselves; I have never taught children, but I am willing to teach anyone who I feel can learn.
