The Operations Manger is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant. The sole purpose is to find ways to make the company more efficient by providing effective methods in its business operations.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
An individual in this position usually facilitates several programs around the company, controls inventory, handles logistics, and interviews and supervises employees. Must have a strong leadership background and must know how to handle problems quickly and efficiently. Must have great communication skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Provide a work environment that has positive energy, creativity and teamwork among the employees.
2. Must try to reach compromises with employees by conducting meetings, listening to each department’s issues and concerns, and setting a professional example by showing leadership qualities.
3. Must set rules and procedures for employees to follow, including setting policies in the workplace to ensure effective implementation and adherence among each and every employee in the organization.
4. Handling issues is a top priority, including risk management, shipment delays, clients’ dissatisfaction, and employee problems.
5. Responsible for hiring employees, as well as supervising and evaluating employees and their job performance.
6. Give directions to employees on certain job tasks, resolve problems concerning employees’ work performance, and create work schedules.
7. Supervise the inventory count the last week of every month.
8. Documentation in support of the receiving, storage, processing, and production warehouses.
9. May be called upon to perform the work of other maintenance personnel or to assist in the completion of their work.
10. Manage the receiving department in loading and unloading of shipments and deliveries.
11. Operates material handling equipment, such as dollies, hand trucks, carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other similar equipment.
12. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment for warehouse crew.
13. Perform the duties and responsibilities of other positions within the facility as skills and experiences permit.
14. Communicating with other departments and staff groups on a daily basis.
15. Maintaining daily production reports.
16. Overseeing the planned maintenance of machinery, equipment, office, building, and property.
17. Receive proper and timely training on all machinery and equipment.
18. Familiarize with schematics of all machinery and equipment prior to maintenance.
19. Ensure the warehouse crew is restocking on a daily basis: this includes labels, caps, glass, etc.
20. Overseeing the stock of materials used on a daily basis during production, and replenishing throughout the day as needed.
21. Additional duties as assigned by V.P. of Operations.
22. Must have food or Chem. lab experience.
23. Must have knowledge of the FDA regulations.

The Position
The Director of Operations is a critical leadership position at Project 7. They will have total profit and loss responsibility for their department, which encompasses key responsibilities such as; managing product production, procurement, distribution, managing the operations department, supply chain management, logistics and freight management and warehouse management. The Director of Operations will report directly to the President of Project 7, and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Sales. Additionally the Director of Operations will be provided corporate support from the Executive Team and staff around marketing, operations, finance, strategic partnerships and customer service, purchasing and human resources.
Specifically the Director of Operations is responsible for running our current operations ensuring that customer partnerships, vendor partnerships, product safety and quality, facility management, order fulfillment, distribution, customer service, labor and cost of goods are inline with company goals and expectations. The Director of Operations is ultimately responsible for representing the Project 7 mission and at times be involved in pitches when needed and serve as a key “face” of Project 7
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Operations: The Director of Operations will have ultimate responsibility for the Dallas Home Office operations. This includes ensuring that the meals produced and delivered to schools everyday are high quality, safe and consistent with Project 7 standards and that all operations and logistics are running in a smooth, safe and efficient manner.
• Managing Team: The director of Operations will have ultimate responsibility for managing, and training the operations team. The Director of Operations is ultimately responsible for the management of the product production, packaging, expediting, delivery, purchasing, QC, sales and customer service areas of the organization.
• P&L Management: The General Manager will be responsible for the financial management and performance for daily operations. He/she will work alongside the Executive Team to set goals for company.
• Customer Partnerships and Vendor Relations: The Director of Operations will work alongside the President and Director of Sales to lead set partner programs, product rollouts, sales goals for the company and will be responsible for managing their dept. team on executing on these goals. Knowledge of specific channels of distribution where The Company's beverages, consumer goods and sustainable clothing are sold, including competitive set, target consumers and key trends. Includes knowledge of and ability to use information in the identification of new opportunities that are aligned with the global and/or local markets' business objectives.
• Facilities: The Director of Operations will oversee the management of third party warehousing, sourcing, negotiating fee structures, QC maintenance protocols for these partners as well as our product partners and customer partner needs that go along with this.
• Strategic Partnerships: The Director of Operations will be responsible for representing Project 7 with key partnerships. The Director of Operations will also manage existing and build new strategic partnerships critical to the success of the business. These partnerships include but are not limited to new product launch, new product packaging possibilities from current vendors, in store initiatives, seasonal and exclusive rollouts.
Qualities and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

• Prior experience within a food or consumer package goods manufacturing environment is highly desired.

• A proven track record of high performance and driven by a commitment to the mission and success of the organization.

General Responsibilities:
• Read work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
• Examine folded, stitched, collated, bound, and unbound product samples for defects such as imperfect folding, bindings, ink spots, torn or loose pages.
• Start assorted bindery machines and make trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setups.
• Set up, or set up and operate, machines that perform binding operations such as pressing, folding, and trimming on books and related articles.
• Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
• Install and adjust bindery machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing rams, and clamps, in order to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes, using hand tools.

To operate and maintain specific wet chemical processes such as plating and etching in the Front-end operations for manufacturing of ceramics, wafers and elements. Operator is responsible for the daily operation of plating line in repetitive mode, including preparation and maintenance of the plating baths. Works with limited supervision for processing of production parts through the line while performing process control checks using measurement equipment and recording of process parameters. Making adjustments to plating solutions after completion of analysis to maintain bath stability and success of plating. Operator is responsible for producing quality output that meets specification, the upkeep and trouble shooting of the processes. As with all chemical processes use of proper safety and disposal requirements must be met.
