Bright, reflective blues and reds!

Its CONDITION IS GOOD, but during my move it did acquire a few handling bends/creases. Please refer to the 4th (bottom right) pic- ( close-up of serigraph). A thin ( pencil point thin) crease does run along the lower right hand portion of the serigraph, above and below the vertical dolphins fin, another 3/4" pencil point thin crease can be found on the very lower left side of the serigraph and also visible upon very close inspection, a minute thin crease to the left of the woman's left arm.

In spite of the few handling flaws described above, this serigraph still looks quite lovely.

Asking Price for the TWO: $24.00


For your consideration are two beautiful Framed Vintage, gold-etched, foil prints by Actor Lionel Barrymore which were purchased at an estate sale a few years ago. Lionel Barrymore(1878-1954), from one of America's greatest acting families, studied painting in Paris between 1903-1907 and attended The Art Students League of New York Art School.

The fortunate discovery in the early 1960's of some fine etchings created by thee late Lionel Barrymore thrilled and pleased his millions of admirers who had known him only as a famous radio, stage and Academy Award winning screen star.

For a long time, it was believed that all of Mr. Barrymore's etchings had been found. But a fortunate contact with his long-time friend, agent and confidant of many years revealed among his personal effects a few more of Barrymore's preciously limited original copper plates.

Shown in the pictures below are two of the discovered etching plates" Harbor Shelter" and "Old Red Bank", that have been reproduced in a Gold-Etch process that retain the fine fidelity and character of the originals. Etchings are done by scratching a design into a metal plate with a sharp needle. The scratches are filled with ink pressed onto a piece of paper.

Both Lionel Barrymore Gold-Etch prints are professionally framed by MarGol Custom Picture Framing in Dallas, TX ( vintage black painted w/gold detail wood with glass) and matted in black. The pictures(prints) are lustrous gold and black etch done with an incredible amount of detail and each have a bright, shiny gold reflective quality. Each is titled, in Barrymore's handwriting on the bottom left hand corner, and signed by the artist "Lionel Barrymore" on the opposite side. Both are Ready To Hang with hardware included.


#1). The "Harbor Shelter" seascape gold-etch picture measures 11 1/2" by 8 3/4", and with frame measures 19 1/2" by 15". Depicts a harbor scene with small town and boats on the water. Artisans are seen either working on their boat-making or resting along the docks edge.


#2). The "Old Red Bank" seaside gold etched picture measures 7 1/2" by 5 3/4", and with frame measures 13 3/4 by 12". Depicts a harbor scene with a quaint town, the "Old Red Bank" and sailboats docked along the water's edge.

The black frames in both pictures do have a few nicks here and there but still in very good shape for being almost 40 years old. The "Old Red Bank" picture has one thin vertical crease on the center bottom portion(less than 1" long) from the gold foil trying to rise. Seems to only add to its antiquity. The "Harbor Shelter" picture appears to be in excellent condition.

Hard to get a good representation (photo) of these marvelous Gold Etch process pictures because of their reflective qualities. Actually, in my pics below, it is the left (photo) that is much truer to color(the Gold in the etching) than is the right pic. The right pic is however, a good representation of the great attention to details in each. Hope this helps you to better visualize.

Must see in person to truly appreciate their scenic, reflective beauty!

Thought it was a normal and what collectors call a Murano "scorpion" mark but now I am not certain. Come and see for yourself? Other than what is previously mentioned,(and as you can tell by now, I do inspect very closely prior to listing), this Murano art glass clown looks to be free of cracks, stains, scratches or any repairs.

This smiling, happy face little Clown with vibrant design come from MURANO, a small group of islands lying in the lagoon of Venice, Italy.

Murano is truly the cradle of the oldest glass making tradition in Europe.

Like sculpture and painting, Murano glass is an artistic expression.

People that collect Murano glass are purchasing a beautiful piece of art history and European culture.

Size: The Stretched Painted Area measures-17"L X 13"W. With Frame-19"L X 15"W.

Subject: A precious little girl gazes upwards in wide-eyed amazement as 3 large white butterflies flutter, swirl and dance in the air above her.

The sweet blond headed girl is colorfully dressed in a frilly bright yellow bowed dress, matching yellow bowed shoes and her shoulder length golden blond locks are adorned with a contrasting bright green colored hair band. She is surrounded by a muti-shaded, washed and painted pastel to dark greenish- blue background which is textured and dotted with clusters of long stem dainty,delicate white petal flowers.

Media: The background is washed and painted in mixed media (watercolor, acrylic, pastels) in various shades of greens and blues ranging from pastel tones to deeper shades. The main subject matter ( little girl and butterflies) are outlined and detailed in pen and black ink media. The little girls facial features did not come out well in my photo and look a bit washed out, but know that when seen in person, Yes, they are Clearly Visible. Overall, the painting has a nice light to medium texture,with touches of heavier texture ( oils) added to the little girls dress, the white flower buds and areas within the background. There are clear visible signs of individual brush strokes throughout.

Signature:This genuine/original mixed media painting is signed by the artist-Jann Ball Baile.

Stretching /Framing: The canvas painting is professionally stretched onto a solid wooden frame/board and set into a thick 1 1/2" deep X 1" wide raised solid wood frame which is painted in a cheerful, bright yellow tone. This solid wood frame has added raised silver piping.

Condition: The painting itself is in Perfect Condition- Very clean with no tares, creases or blemishes of any kind. The frame does have a few minor scuffs (on the raised silver metal piping ), but otherwise and overall is still in very good condition. On the Back of this painting there are two small areas where the artist left a few dribbles of paint on the canvas and that can be seen in the right picture below(back side of painting).
