Overview
The repair technician is responsible for testing hand held barcode scanners to determine which units need repair. The technician will make electrical and mechanical repairs to the units, and verify correct operation according to company standards. Technician will work directly with warehouse staff to identify broken units and repair them.
Responsibilities:
• Preventative maintenance, which includes testing of all units
• High volume, high quality diagnosis and repair of all broken units
• Identify malfunctions quickly and meet production quotas
• Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective or damaged parts down to the PC board level
• Identifying and sourcing components
• Administrative duties including spare parts inventory and maintaining repair history
• Maintaining and updating serial number list for all units
• Assists in other departments as needed
Requirements:
• 2-year Associates degree in Electronics or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 1-2 years hands-on experience in a repair environment
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot circuits to the component level
• Ability to troubleshoot without the use of schematics/diagrams
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel), plus ability to learn customized software
• Knowledge of soldering practices including IPC (certification a plus)
• Hardware test experience, with the ability to develop and implement test procedures
• Knowledge of handheld barcode scanners and barcode technology
• Ability to work flexible hours (including overtime, weekends, etc.)
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must exhibit positive technical aptitude and good work ethics
