(Senior level position requires more experience and demonstrated technical knowledge)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general direction, creates complex internal/external company web pages including graphics, animation, and functionality. Designs web page layouts and creates all necessary user interface graphics, icons, color schemes, content, and infrastructure for new product release and new web-hosted product offering. Performs development and maintenance programming for web pages and web applications. Partners with Developers to implement pages or applications into production. May assist in the planning of overall company strategy involving internet usage. May make hardware and/or software purchasing recommendations or decisions regarding web development. Requires knowledge of commercial internet/web tools and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS: Both positions requires a Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience. Senior level requires at least 5 years related experience, while Contributor Level requires 3 years related experience. Advanced computer software skills, particularly using Adobe products in a Windows Environment. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Advanced HTML and CSS skills, and an understanding of modular web design theory. Solid, working knowledge of PHP and Javascript. Any Flash ActionScript experience would be a huge plus. Solid visual design principles including grid-based designs, color theory, typography, layout, user interface elements and production techniques. Understands concepts of source code control and how to use tools; translates the design specification into physical code; creates and assembles code modules from existing code repositories; Knowledge of HTML coding best practices for search engine optimization and accessibility; Utilizes key design principles and industry standards to ensure clear navigation, GUI, content design and ease of use for target audience; solicits feedback from end users to make modifications. Understands and utilizes common web site development tools, creates web user interfaces using graphics tools, understands brand value and how to extend it to the Internet.
