SOFTWARE ENGINEER
ZogoTech is looking for someone to help support and enhance our Business
Intelligence and CRM software for Higher Education. This is an opportunity for a
very motivated person to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing, fun
company.
In this position you will be deploying data warehousing / BI systems to
dozens of community colleges and universities across the country. You will work
closely with a set of customers on the full lifecycle: from the project kickoff
to analyzing problems, formulating solutions, listening to customer suggestions
to developing customizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Deployment Management
- Help users install, configure our database software
- Coordinate schedules with customers, resolve problems, answer
technical questions
- Walk customers through the documentation, deployment checklist
- Proactively identify ways to improve the deployment process and
make recommendations for improvements
2. Support and Development
- Work with customers, show them how to use the product (via web,
phone).
- Implement customizations (SQL) to improve product, reduce future
support requests.
- Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design
functional specifications
- Proactively identify ways to improve the product, make
recommendations and implement them
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
1. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple concurrent deployments /
support requests in a rapidly changing environment
2. Customer-oriented (needs to have a good deal of patience)
3. Good verbal, written communication skills
4. Entrepreneurial and willing to contribute wherever needed
5. Work well with internal and external teams as well as independently
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's Degree required (Masters or PhD strongly preferred)
2. 2 years experience using databases, supporting customers
3. Relational database knowledge (i.e. ability to write SQL)
4. Background in data / statistics preferred
5. Background in Higher Education (especially Institutional Research) preferred
6. System administration experience and Programming background preferred
7. Project management experience preferred
