This is a great example of a very rare and desirable investment grade classic car. Its a 1970 B5 blue, 383 4 speed, air grabber hood Plymouth Roadrunner.
BEEP BEEP!!
If you are in the market for an all original, all numbers matching ’70 Roadrunner that has the potential to be a six figure car once finished this is the one.
Per Galen Govier white book Chrysler only built 5839 total 383 4 spd coupes in 1970. How many all numbers matching cars remain is anyone’s guess but suffice to say there aren’t many.
This is a nicely optioned example on its way to being restored back faithfully to its original as sold condition per the fender tag. It is also nicely appointed with N96 Air grabber hood, D21 4 speed manual transmission, B5 Bright Blue poly paint, P6B5 blue bucket seat interior, C16 console, C55 bucket seats and V6W white longitudinal tape stripe.
It has just had a complete and thorough restoration of the entire body. All the rust repair that this car needed has been expertly repaired with AMD panels. See pix for the progression/evolution that this car went thru. We cut out all the rusty floors, trunk, quarters, ect, (both rear frame rails and torsion bar crossmember were replaced) sent the car to the blaster then spent a couple hours blowing all the sand out then sprayed the entire body top to bottom with 2 coats of PPG epoxy primer (including the insides of the rear frame rails and torsion bar cross member-something the factory didn’t even do) then fit and installed all the new sheet metal. We also seam sealed all the joints on trunk and floor pans same as factory did and then sprayed everything with 2 coats of the factory B5 Blue poly including the entire underside. The car is bullet proof now.
See the pic with all the loose parts on the ground for ALL the parts we have that are not currently attached to the car. We don’t have ANY other parts. All fasteners are bagged and tagged. It has a very nice grill. Hood, doors, fenders and deck lid are original and in excellent shape. Both front and rear windshield channels were blasted and primed. All glass is present and in good shape except windshield. We cleaned and regreased the quarter glass and door glass regulators when we had the quarters off so they roll up and down real nice. We installed new full OE quarters on both sides and sprayed the backsides with 2 coats of epoxy primer, then undercoating, then 2 coats of B5 blue paint just like factory did. New one piece trunk floor, trunk extensions, rear cross member, outer wheel houses and full floor pans. Both front and rear suspension were blasted at same time body was and sprayed in 2 coats of black PPG epoxy primer.
Engine is the original (with matching vin stamp) 383 HP with 906 heads and the original 2806031 intake and correct HIPO exhaust manifolds. The transmission is the original (with matching vin stamp) 23 spline A833 4 speed. Both will need rebuilt but I had the engine running just prior to pulling it out to do all the bodywork. Its does NOT currently run.
Interior is fairly complete minus console. Original Pistol grip Hurst shifter with wood grain handle is still pretty nice with good chrome. The dash frame, gauges and all dash appliques have been restored. The steering column and steering wheel have been completely rebuilt/restored with new ignition switch and new Ignition lock cylinder and keys. Both front and rear bumpers are new.
Original 14” painted wheels with dog dish hubcaps.
Cars like this dont come up very often anymore. Don’t let this be the car you wish you had bought when you had the chance.
