I’m contemplating for the first time, maybe possibly selling my squareneck dobro.
I’m just putting this out there to gauge reaction to it.
I’m not completely convinced I want to part with it, yet as it’s a pretty rare instrument being the first one.
I’m just playing a lot more lap steel these days.
This is Bruce Weber of Weber mandolin fame. It’s his first dobro he ever built. The prototype.
It’s a beautiful instrument but I’m just not playing it enough, I think, to justify keeping it much longer.
Comes with a letter of provenance from Bruce. And a case that a Mack truck could run over and it wouldn’t hurt it.
It’s dang near indestructible.
It went up to Kent Schoonover of Schoonover dobro fame in Oklahoma for one of his cones and a pickup was installed for stage use.
You can see the 3 pictures from when it was on Kent’s bench.
It’s got a warmer sound to it than other dobros I’ve played.
It’s in great shape other than a nick on the front you can see in the pictures that was there when I got it.
Asking 6K. Might be interested in a trade for a nice F mandolin. Or possibly an Ellis A model.
Maybe some other things if you have any of these + cash.
I’d do some trading on the following:
Takamine EAN10C w/case
Harmony H54 Guitar w/case
Supro Jet Airliner Lap Steel w/case
1964 Airline Rocket 110 Lap Steel w/case.
Or a Harmony Bobkat H-15
Or a Silvertone 1446 Chris Isaac model w/case.
Or an American Vintage ‘72 Telecaster Custom w/case.
Please leave a phone number if you’re interested
And I’d like a local area sale, cash sale.
I’m not really interested in shipping it.
Serious inquires only, please..
Thank you.
