We are seeking a Software Engineer – Precision Motion Control & Machine Vision for a contract hybrid position based in Richardson, TX, with partial work-from-home flexibility. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing software solutions for precision motion control and machine vision systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement back-end solutions, and ensure high-performance software standards. Additional responsibilities involve troubleshooting and maintaining code quality to meet project requirements and timelines.
Key Technical Focus Areas:
• Real-time motion control for multi-axis systems (Newport Hexapod, single-axis linear stages, rotary stage)
• Machine vision and image processing algorithms for alignment, inspection, and placement
• Integration of vision feedback with motion control on Microsoft Windows PCs
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Software Development, including Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) techniques.
• Experience in Computer Science concepts and principles, particularly focused on design and application of algorithms.
• Expertise in Back-End Web Development and delivering robust, scalable system architectures.
• Strong understanding of best practices in software engineering, version control, and testing.
• Ability to work in hybrid environments, balancing on-site and remote work as needed.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in precision motion control and machine vision systems is a significant advantage.
Highly Desired:
• Hands-on experience with Newport Hexapod or similar multi-axis precision motion systems
• Strong machine vision / image processing background (OpenCV or equivalent)
• Proficiency in C# (.NET) or C++ for real-time Windows applications
