Job Description:
The Infusion RN is responsible for providing intravenous antibiotic therapy. Initiates, monitors, and terminates intravenous antibiotic therapies. Performs venous punctures, maintains the intravascular site including tubing and dressings, monitors for infections, initiates emergency therapies, assesses patients for adverse reactions and complications, and documents all patient-directed activities. Prioritizes situations, problem solves, and multi-tasks on a daily basis. Communicates with staff, other agencies, patients and families. Has knowledge of various IV accesses. Able to think critically, provide compassion, pay attention to detail, be organized, be patient, remain calm under pressure, multi-task and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and have solid nursing skills and knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct an assessment of the patient before, during and after the start of the therapy
• Start and administer infusion therapy as ordered by the patient's physician
• Draw labs and monitor results as needed
• Provide case management and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families regarding medication, side effects, and what to observe for after the treatment is complete
• Communicate with patient, family physician, pharmacy team, clinical and administrative staff as well as other agency staff

Required Experience/Education/Licenses/Certificates:
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum of one year recent experience as an infusion nurse
• Current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
• CPR certified
• Solid computer skills and ability to use EMR
• Ability to type proficiently
