*Note: The chuck is not mounted, there is no backplate, you will have to make
a custom backplate to mount this to the indexer, which really is not a big deal.
I originally was going to machine a back plate myself, but I've got other indexers
now so I don't need this set up etc. I originally wanted one of these with a chuck
that had two piece reversible jaws because the optional Yuasa chucks were only
1 piece jaw sets so it was a pain to change out the jaws for different diameter
material etc, plus with 2 piece jaws you can get soft jaws and custom machine
them too. Chuck is a 6" chuck and clears the base no problem, best way to
machine a backplate would be out of a 1/2 thick steel round disc. The chuck is
originally a back mount chuck, but you can take these chucks apart and drill the
original mounting holes all the way through the chuck body and then attach the
chuck to your mounted backplate that way. Mounting bolt holes are going to be
metric and not sure if there is enough meet to the body to counter bore the bolt
holes for metric socket head cap screws, if not the heads will just not be flush.
Like I say, not a bid deal to machine a backplate, your a machinist right, plus
when you get through you'll have a way better indexer than the solid jaw version.
These are a real handy quick indexer to have, especially with the chuck option
too. Lot easier loading one of these on your Bridgeport or similar knee mill table
than an 8" Yuasa Accu-Dex or Super Accu-Dex and they index a lot faster too.
You can also take the chuck off and use it as a standard 5C collet indexer too.
Each full handle stroke is 60 degrees, or you can set the stroke stop screws to
limit each stroke to 15, 30, or 45 degrees as well by adjusting the stop screws
out to limit the stroke, you lock the spindle by pulling back on the stroke handle.
Setup here comes with a new, unmounted / no back plate, 6" / 160mm diameter
3 jaw universal chuck, with 2 piece reversible, tongue and groove hardened jaws.
