Antique Victorian Stomps Burkhardt T-back Oak Caned Rocking Chair.
Has original tag on bottom.
The chairs measure 31"H x 17"W x 28"D.
Seat needs some repair but it is still firm.
The company was founded in 1859 by Gustave Stomps and his brother Joesph in Dayton Ohio. Burkhardt started as an apprentice and married Gustave's oldest daughter. In 1890 Burkhardt became president and the name changed to Stomps-Burkhardt Company. The chair factory was located in downtown Dayton Ohio, at the corner of First and Canal streets. It's Patterson Boulevard and First Street now. The company folded in 1928.
