The Modification Process
In their standard form, digital cameras include an internal IR-cut filter designed to block certain wavelengths of light for accurate daytime color reproduction. Unfortunately, this same filter also suppresses much of the deep red hydrogen-alpha (H-α) emission at 656nm—the signature wavelength of glowing nebulae and star-forming regions.
During the astro-modification process, this factory filter is carefully removed and replaced with a specialized, high-transmission filter optimized for astrophotography. This modification was performed by LifePixel, a trusted brand in infrared and astrophotography modifications. The modification is performed in a controlled environment to ensure precision alignment, sensor cleanliness, and full camera functionality.
