Sony’s esteemed G Master series features this lens, designed to deliver exceptional resolution and sharpness by correcting a wide range of spherical and chromatic aberrations.
The lens boasts a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, ensuring consistent performance across its zoom range. This aperture also provides greater control over focus position, making it ideal for shallow depth of field techniques.
Nano AR Coating is applied to minimize surface reflections, flare, and ghosting, resulting in enhanced contrast and color rendering in bright lighting conditions.
The rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when using selective focus techniques.
Among the three aspherical elements in the lens design, one is an XA element with exceptional surface precision, effectively minimizing astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations in the captured imagery. Additionally, the lens design incorporates four extra-low dispersion elements and two Super ED elements, which contribute to controlling chromatic aberrations and reducing color fringing, thereby enhancing clarity and color fidelity.
Reliable autofocus and image stabilization.
Advanced double-linear and ring Super Sonic wave Motor system ensures fast, precise, and accurate autofocus in both stills and video. The floating elements system enhances image quality when working at the minimum focusing distance of 3.15’ with a magnification of 0.25x. The lens barrel features three focus hold buttons and a focus range limiter switch, allowing for quick and intuitive lens operation during shooting.
Professional build and intuitive handling.
Dust- and moisture-sealed design enhances working conditions in adverse weather. The front lens element is coated with fluorine to protect against smudges and dust adhering to the glass. A removable, rotating tripod mount allows for quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations. A petal-shaped lens hood prevents flaring and features a filter access window for adjusting rotating filters like polarizers and variable ND filters. The camera is compatible with optional 1.4x and 2x teleconverters to extend the effective focal length.
