Sen. Ted Cruz said Republicans should be prepared for a “crazed assault” from Democrats as both sides gear up for bitter battles in the 2020 campaigns.
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Friday, the Texas Republican said there are lessons to be learned from his close 2018 re-election race against challenger Beto O’Rourke, then a Texas congressman.
“I think it foreshadows what we’re going to see across the country,” Mr. Cruz said.
He warned that, like in Texas, Democrats will go into hyper-drive to drastically increase their turnout and campaign donations.
“We are going to see to a crazed assault from the left, more unhinged than anything we have seen,” Mr. Cruz said.
He urged voters to be just as energetic and determined to drive-up Republican turnout and fundraising if they want to win in 2020.
