We have a homemade chick brooder. It measures about 3 feet long by 2 feet wide by 18 inches tall--including the lid section. It has a solid floor, which requires some type of bedding. Was used for raising chicken and guinea chicks. It holds about 50 chicks for 2-3 weeks before they need to be moved to something bigger. Does not have a heat source. We used heat lamps placed on top of wire to keep chicks warm. Coffee table base is included if you want it.
