Many people who are selling what they tell you are silkies ...
when in reality they are just making up names of chicken breeds and varieties and colors that just don't exist...
There is no such thing as a silkie with smooth or frizzled feathers... BY DEFINITION THAT IS NOT A SILKIE...
NO SUCH THING AS Millie Fluer silkies .... When people say they have project pens or project birds they mean they have barnyard mixes , crossbreeds and mutts ... But that doesn't sell so they sell you ocean front property in Arizona...
We have pure bred silkies that have never been crossbred or inbred !!!

Some notes and recommendations
1. Before you buy from anyone... MAKE SURE THEY ARE:
PT certified - WE ARE
NPIP certified - WE ARE
TAHC certified - WE ARE
Our wildlife park is even USDA licensed as well
2. If you want all the attributes that drew you to Silkies in the first place... you must buy truly PURE BRED Silkies...
CAN'T stress it enough ... we get get so many calls every day from people who:
• bought cheap chickens from people claiming to have silkies
• BOUGHT WHAT THEY WERE TOLD WAS A SILKIE And it end up not even having the right feathers or all the attributes of a true Silkie... A person who wants a silkie should at least expect them to meet the minimum breed standards. It's not just a quality issue... It's a genotype/phenotype issue
• Those unfortunate people who buy from sources who say they have silkies... But really have mixed other breeds into their silkies... and they were not told they were mixed breeds... are so disappointed 5 months later when they realize they don't have true Silkies ... and what they purchased don't carry any of the traits that drew them to Silkies in the first place.
3. ALWAYS SEE THE PARENTS BEFORE YOU BUY SILKIE CHICKS - not just pictures of chicks
100% of the photos we use are of OUR BIRDS ... (we never get Google images and sell birds from those )
• 100% in natural state ...
(we do not shampoo and blow dry /show prep any of our silkies for photos ... this is our quality without anything added... Unless in the recently added show pictures)
4. We highly recommend that you NEVER JUST BUY CHICKS THAT PEOPLE ARE CALLING SILKIES... AND NEVER NEVER... NEVER EVER BUY OFF SITE...( Since you have no idea where they came from or parents ...etc)
5. TRUE SILKIES have an SOP ... Breed standards
Our recommendation for consisent eatablished genetics is that you make sure the bloodline has never had any mixing of breeds.
Again ... once they are crossed with other breeds they should never again be referred to as silkies agian... They should be referred to honestly as barnyard mixes, crossbreeds,
If you want all the temperment and attributes of a SIlkie ... you must buy pure bred Silkies...
